First Impressions Preparation Programme (2½ - 3 year olds)

It is recognised that a child’s intellectual capabilities develop more rapidly from birth to 5 years old than at any other period in their lives.  This is the age at which the young child can absorb all information and knowledge without inhibitions.  Children learn spontaneously and with joy, making it a period of great importance in their education.  In light of this we offer a unique “preparation” programme for 2-3 year olds.

The activities and materials in this group answer the special needs of children of this age.  Great care is taken to show them how to work and play together, how to handle the materials to improve co-ordination and how to tackle problems in a logical, orderly manner, to help achievement and give a sense of satisfaction.  Much effort is made to increase the child’s communications skills and vocabulary in a fun, enjoyable and encouraging way.  As a part of the routine, every day the children have a story time, an organised art activity, and music/singing session.

The activities of the preparation programme encourage a beautiful transition into the nursery section of our school at age 3 years old.  The ratio of teacher to child is 1:6 to ensure maximum individual attention.
